Sharing Functional Texts

For a couple of weeks we studied functional texts. These are things we read that don’t tell stories or teach us facts. This includes recipes, how to steps, and fliers. Reading those texts is often very different than reading a fun story or a nonfiction book. At the end of the two weeks, we worked in small groups to read a new functional text and prepare to explain about it to the rest of the class. After the presentations we had the chance to ask each other questions and talk about what we learned from these texts.
