On the second day we started a routine we’ll do every day for the rest of the year: independent reading. Everyone has a book box with four or five books from our classroom library. Books can be returned and new ones chosen each day. We only have a small percentage of our classroom library available so far, but it includes lots of fiction and nonfiction at a wide range of reading levels. We’ll keep unpacking more each day.
