In small groups, students got three different cups of water. One was colored blue, one green, and one left clear. They had different amounts of salt in them (from no salt to a lot of salt). Students carefully and slowly combined the water to see what happened. The water with a lot of salt was denser and went to the bottom. The water with no salt was the least dense and settled on the top.
