Last week we finished reading Me and Sam-Sam Handle the Apocalypse by Susan Vaught. It was a LONG book and a challenging one. Jesse, the main character, is a girl with autism whose mom is currently deployed to Iraq with her bomb-sniffing dog. Jesse is trying to train Sam-Sam to sniff out bombs but it isn’t going well. Then Jesse’s dad gets arrested for stealing money from the library fund (he’s a high school teacher and was in charge of collecting those funds). Jesse, Sam-Sam, and their new friend Springer start investigating.
There was a lot to discuss as we read and when we had finished the book so we paused our day to talk with friends.
